Children are curious about the world, and it seems no matter how much information that you give them they are continuously seeking more. Political views are typically something that children at least initially pick up from their parents. Regardless of a parent’s political affiliation and viewpoint, it is only fair to teach children about a bigger picture so they can grow up informed and capable of making their own decisions. Teaching children about politics can be either a path you choose for them or a doorway to their own political feelings.

NEW YORK, Dec 21 – Within the upper echelons of American society there is a culture – a cult almost – of giving that is little understood outside the US. Call it capitalist philanthropy, or philanthropic capitalism if you prefer.

At its core is the assumption that those who are blessed with great riches should give something back to those less fortunate, through foundations or charities established in their name.

In the process, the reputation of the benefactor is enhanced and friendships forged, opening up new business opportunities that generate more wealth, some of which is in turn given back. And so a cycle is set in motion, creating money and goodwill in equal measure as it spins.

All that is certain is that Burma has a nuclear programme. It may be years, if not decades, away from developing nuclear-weapons capability. But the fact that the country’s military leadership is experimenting with nuclear power is cause for concern

Over the past year, Southeast Asia’s diplomatic community has tried to sort fact from fiction in a stream of unconfirmed reports from Burma, the region’s most isolated and secretive country. Burma’s fledgling nuclear programme with Russian assistance and its mysterious connections with North Korea raise concern in the region about its purpose.
