Trying to turn back the TIME MACHINE

Trying to turn back the TIME MACHINE

Comment: I had seen this in Burma. Started in 1930s for the Campaign of Burmese is our (National) language, love Burmans, use Bama made only. (Don’t buy from Muslim and Indian shops etc). Actually those Nationalistic or rather awkward ultra-nationalism Campaigns are discreetly targeted as anti-colonial Campaigns against ruling British.

Later Ne Win use this to change the teaching media into Burmese and start to teach all the subjects in Burmese. Even English teaching was started in middle school after the Primary School Education. After his daughter’s failure in Postgraduate studies and seeing the bad command of English in the grand children, he started to reversed back.

Opposition is just doing the same exploitation as linking the issue to loving the Malay language and fear of losing its identity as the ruling party is using the Royalty issue.

It is ridiculously similar to see the same scenario s of teaching the Medical/Science subjects in local languages like Burmese/Malay but there were lack of agreement to translate the scientific terms and there is no proper followup of translating the ever renewing of new latest editions of text books in both countries.

Malaysia should not follow all the ways of Myanmar ways of self destruction.

Language march: Tear gas fired

Police came down hard on some 8,000 people taking part in a protest march from Masjid Negara to Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

The march was organised by the coalition against the teaching of science and maths in English (GMP).

GMP, known in its Malay name as Gerakan Mansuhkan PPSMI, is a coalition of 14 NGOs. Some of its pro-tem committee members include opposition politicians.
