Foreign workers treated fairly, Malaysian minister lies

Foreign workers treated fairly, Malaysian minister lies

What a blatant shameless lie!

Some foreign workers were forced to work_

  • 12 hr every day without overtime or only 2-3hr overtime payment.
  • off day once in 2-3 weeks
  • no overtime on public holidays
  • no sick leave or MCs cut RM  100/absent day
  • if ill for few days dismiss or expelled from work

TAMIL NESAN has quoted Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam as saying that the Government has never oppressed foreign workers in the country.

He said the report by a foreign broadcasting agency that Malaysia mistreats foreign workers was not true.

He was commenting on a recent British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) report that quoted several workers from Bangladesh and India as saying that their situation and the treatment they receive in this country were bad.

Foreign workers who followed the correct channels and registered with the Government were subject to labour laws and the Industrial Relations Act where they received the same treatment and rights as local workers, the minister said.
