498 – the number that insults women

daphne-iking.pngKUALA LUMPUR – Section 498 of the Penal Code has suddenly become a much-talked about number. Before the issue concerning glamorous TV celebrity Daphne Iking made media headlines, how many people – more pertinent, how many women – knew such a law exists? Simply put, it is about men enticing, taking away or detaining with a criminal intent, another man’s wife.

In more legal language it pertains to “whoever takes or entices away any woman who is and whom he knows, or has reason to believe, to be the wife of any other man, from that man , or from any person having the care of her on behalf of that man , with intent that she may have illicit intercourse with any person, or conceals, or detains with that intent any such woman.”

We could not know the feelings of Malay Muslims when minority Muslims in other countries suffered when the majorities show the anti-Islam behaviour by, destroying Mosques, burning Quran, killed the Muslims, looted their houses, properties and shops..

Just look at the recent Xingjian problem and never ending anti-Muslim activities in Myanmar. Please look at the Buddhist Monks on Minarets of Pago Mosque and torn  Qurans, here in this blog’s article, Masjids in Burma or Myanmar @ https://sanooaung.wordpress.com/2009/08/04/masjids-in-burma/#more-10446

May I repeat again, I am against the horrible acts of fellow Muslims. They should consider what would happen to the Muslims in India if the Indian Hindus took this as an insult and started revenge. The Afghanistan’s Buddhist statue destruction was used as a lame excuse to start anti-Muslim riots in Myanmar.
