Fifa rank: Myanmar 145th better than Malaysia 152th

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 – Malaysia remained in 152nd spot despite two draws in two international friendly matches, against China and Kenya, last month.

In the latest ranking released by football’s governing body, Fifa, Malaysia collected three points from two draws but remained at 152nd spot with 123 points.

In South East Asia, Malaysia are sixth behind Thailand (115), Singapore(127), Indonesia (133), Myanmar (145) and Vietnam (146).

Malaysia’s best ever spot was 75th spot, way back in 1993.

Meanwhile, Malaysia lost 0-1 to Saudi Arabian club, Al-Qadisiya in a friendly held in Dammam early this morning. Coach K. Rajagobal’s boys would next face Jordan at the King Abdullah Stadium in Amman on Saturday. – Bernama

ALOR SETAR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s elder sister Rafeah Mohamad died here last night of old age.

Rafeah, 94, who was the eldest among five siblings, breathed her last at the Kedah Medical Centre at 9.45pm.

She will be buried at the Akar Peluru Muslim cemetery here at 11am today.

With her death, Dr Mahathir, 84, – the youngest sibling – is the only surviving member of the family.

The former premier left for Alor Setar from Kuala Lumpur last night.
