The Irrawaddy:Suu Kyi Blocked from Attending Appeal Hearing

Burmese authorities are not allowing Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi to hear her appeal in person at the Rangoon Division Court on Thursday, said Suu Kyi’s lawyer, Nyan Win. 

Nyan Win said police told him they could not take her to the court, which has sole jurisdiction over Suu Kyi’s case.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 — The lid is going to be blown away today on a major tussle between the two royal households of Negri Sembilan and Johor.

The grandson of the late Negeri Sembilan Yang Di Pertuan Besar who was allegedly assaulted by a member of the Johor royal household and his bodyguards at a posh hotel last year, wants the assailants nabbed.

Tunku Nadzimuddin Mudzaffar (right), the grandson of the late Tuanku Jaafar, and son of his eldest daughter Tunku Dara Naquiah, said the matter had been forwarded to the Attorney-General in December, but there has been no developments since.

Addressing the media on the issue for the first time in Kuala Lumpur today, Nadzimuddin named the alleged assailant as Tunku Ismail Ibrahim, the grandson of the Johor Sultan.
