Former UK govt lawyers say 2003 Iraq war was illegal

LONDON, Jan 26 – One of Britain’s former top legal advisers in the run-up to the Iraq war said on Tuesday he believed the 2003 invasion was illegal.

Michael Wood (pic), the most senior legal adviser at the Foreign Office until 2006, told an inquiry examining Britain’s role in the war that a United Nations resolution authorising the use of force would have been needed to make military action lawful.
