Dr Osman Abd. Hamid @ Than Aung jumped out of the Myanmar frying-pan into the Malaysian fire

Dr Osman Abd. Hamid @ Than Aung

jumped out of the Myanmar frying-pan

into the Malaysian fire

ACA must made sure that there is fairness in investigations regarding the case of the Burmese Doctor from PUSRAWI.

In his SD, Dr Osman Abd. Hamid alleged the intimidation of police and attempted manipulation of his Medical Report.

In his statutory declaration, the doctor claimed that he had fled the country with his family following several visits by the police.

Among others, Osman also claimed that the police attempted to tamper with his statements.

No one seems to be investigating from that POV (Point of view) or complaint. Instead we are witnessing the threatening of the complainant and whistle blowers.

MOH, stop persecution and start concentration on Rakyat’s health

Malaysia MINISTRY OF HEALTH must stop persecution of doctors

and start concentration on more important crimes

During the briefing before implementing the Private Healthcare and Facilities and Services Act, former Minister, DG and MOH officers keep on assuring the doctors they are not going to punish the doctors but are aiming to improve the industry and to protect the interest of patients and the doctors.

  1. But a Bumiputra, Malay Muslim doctor graduated from USM with the MMC (Malaysian Medical Council) registration and APC (Annual Practicing Certificate) was arrested and jailed just because he failed to register his clinic and could not pay the hefty fine of RM 100,000.
  2. PUSRAWI Burmese doctor was threatened by almost all of the MOH officials and MMC Chairman shamelessly parading and appearing on TVs with RM 300,000 fine, jail and possible revoking of registration even before they know the source of the leakage of the medical report.
  3. Private clinics operating in the hotels and supermarkets are in a constant fear of MOH officials because most of them have no back doors and own toilets. Almost all the Government hospital consultations rooms also don’t have separate toilet and back doors and should be forced to renovate. Even if government wishes to do that unnecessary renovation, private clinics are operating as tenants in other people owned properties. The rented room tenants cannot easily get the permission to do that from the owners.

Ethics, medical confidentiality vs political pressures

Ethics, medical confidentiality

vs

political pressures

Malaysiakini article by Dr David KL Quek | Aug 4, 08

DR DAVID KL QUEK is interested sociopolitical affairs, social justice, health matters, professionalism and ethics. He is past editor-in-chief of the MMA (Malaysian Medical Association) News for 11 years and currently president-elect of the MMA.

Many people, especially some cantankerous bloggers and doctors are wondering why the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) has so far not spoken. See _

Not sodomy-related? Let’s not be anal.

Hospital Pusrawi 280708.jpgUntil now, I have remained silent on this issue, as my liberal and passionate views of social justice may not be acceptable to many who feel that we should be cautious in accommodating the powers that be.

  • As a concerned doctor, I too wish that more could be done and perhaps even more could be said about the issue.
  • I respect the stance that the MMA (Malaysia Medical Association) should be cautious and circumspect in heavily-tinged political affairs.

Comment: Actually they are anti-foreign doctors and used to always take a stance against us.  Because of that, I stop paying my MMA membership fees.

Be patient Dr Than Aung, we are praying that there will be a wind of change for you

Be patient Dr Than Aung,

Insyallah, there will be a wind of change for you

Dr David KL Quek | Aug 15, 08 in Malaysiakini

“If thou speakest not

I will fill my heart with thy silence and endure it.

I will keep still and wait like the night with starry vigil

and its head bent low with patience.

“The morning will surely come,

the darkness will vanish,

and thy voice pour down in golden streams breaking through the sky.

“Then thy words will take wing in songs from every one of my birds’ nests,

and thy melodies will break forth in flowers in all my forest groves.”

Collateral damaged victims should be restituted by DSAI

Collateral damaged victims should be restituted by DSAI

Burmese Muslim doctor from PUSRAWI, Dr Osman had lost his job and would be impossible to even continue to work in Malaysia because of MMC problem. If he could not show or get the “Good standing certificate” he would be denied registration everywhere around the world. His future is almost totally damaged.

If Doctor and Hospital fine over leaked report, you must take similar action on leaked Dr M’s letter to Israel PM

If Doctor and Hospital fined over leaked report,

you must take similar action on leaked Dr M’s letter to Israel PM

COMMENT: We hereby wish to request that_

If Doctor and Hospital fined over leaked report, you must take similar action on leaked alleged Dr M’s letter’ to Israel PM.

After all OSA is more powerful and serious than Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998.

And the letter rundown the reputation of our Greatest former PM and our country’s reputation of staunch defender of Islam and Palestinians but the report effected only one person only (if we hope and assume that there is no conspiracy at all)

After all Dr Osman is not the owner of the Pusrawi and even if he is an owner he could not and should not keep all the patient’s record under lock and key for all the time. Any patient facing any emergency problem could face problem if the doctors on duty in any hospital or health care facilities are denied access to the patient’s medical record.

So if the authorities could not pin point the real culprit who leaked the records, could not arbitrarily practice collective punishment.

I still remember the case of an illegal Indonesian Illegal Immigrant, killed by the dozen of soldiers at the beach in Malacca.  The judge released all the soldiers free because no one admit the crime of murder. The Judge failed to look at the UN International War Crime Tribunal’s Yamamoto Doctrine.

Yamamoto was found guilty for the crimes committed by his Japanese soldiers in Phillipine during WW2.

No police or military person could commit atrocities and claim immunity as if obeying the orders from above and no higher authorities could refused the responsibility of the crimes committed by his subordinates.

News from NST’s point of view

KUALA TERENGGANU: Hospital Pusrawi is liable to a fine of up to RM300,000 and its management may face jail time if investigations reveal there was negligence which led to Mohd Saiful Bukhari’s medical report being leaked.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Latif Ahmad said this was provided for under the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998.

Furthermore, the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) could take disciplinary action against the doctor involved because leaking the report to the public went against medical ethics, he said after visiting the Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah here.
